Gangs de New York, campements de gitans, favelas brésiliennes et crackheads de Brooklyn... Les photographies de Boogie nous entraînent au coeur des bas-fonds urbains de ce début de 21ème siècle, depuis les bidonvilles de l'ex-Yougoslavie jusqu'aux zones les plus hostiles des Etats-Unis. Boogie s’est intéressé à la photographie dès son plus jeune âge, sous l’influence de son père et de son grand-père, tous deux photographes amateurs. Il faudra néanmoins attendre son retour de l’armée dans le chaos des années Milosevic, pour qu'il décide de documenter ce qu’il se passe autour de lui et collabore avec de nombreux magazines yougoslaves, avant de déménager aux USA en 1998 pour s'installer à Brooklyn.. Enfant des rues, Boogie en connaît les codes et ne juge pas les gens qu’il photographie. Comme il le dit lui-même, nos vies tiennent aux choix que nous faisons et la plupart de ses sujets ont simplement choisi la mauvaise voie.

Gangs of New York, gypsy camps, Brazil's favelas and Brooklyn crackheads... The photographs of Boogie carry us into the heart of the early 21st century urban decay, from the slums of former Yugoslavia to the very most hostile areas of the United States. Boogie was drawn by photography from his earliest childhood, under the influence of his father and grandfather, both amateur photographers. However, it would take until his return from the army, amidst the chaos of the Milosevic years, for him to start documenting his surroundings and to collaborate with numerous Yugoslavian magazines, before moving to the USA and settling down in Brooklyn in 1998. As a street kid, Boogie knows the codes and does not judge the people he photographs. His saying is that our lives depend on our own choices and that his subjects have merely chosen the wrong path.
